Manpower to support ASAHI

ASAHI's shoes are made in Japan. They are carefully made one pair at a time. Handwork and high technical ability based on years of experience also contribute to this unique manufacturing method. Allow us to introduce the thoughts of staff who demonstrate a passion for manufacturing.

The feeling that I can make an impact gives me motivation!

Rubber material mixing:Eguchi

Rubber material mixing: Eguchi

I am in charge of blending and kneading rubber which is used as a raw material for shoes. I mix rubber material and pigments according to a recipe and continue to mix while applying heat until they become uniform. I adjust the temperature and the mixing method according to season and weather, which gives me a chance to show my skills. At first I used to mix them with force, but as I learned the tricks of the trade I was able to control the mixing according to rubber movement. I have been doing this job for 8 years, but I work with the feeling that I am still studying. Our shoes are widely worn in welfare and nursing facilities and the feeling that I support many people improves my motivation! I will continue to make shoes that invigorate everyone.

I have experienced various processes since the period of mass production. Currently, I am in charge of the process of assembling an upper part of the shoe called the “upper” with a rubber sole. Our team, much more aware of quality than before, works together while paying close attention to each pair of shoes to prevent the occurrence of defective products and achieve excellent quality. I, myself, enjoy the atmosphere of this workplace where everyone cooperates to produce excellent shoes while also thinking about how to advance the work. I have been in this job for a long time, and I am glad when the people whom I know say "The shoes I bought are very good. I think I will buy your brand next time too.” Since the shoes are designed to be worn every day, its continuous wear is proof of our excellent comfort.

Upper leather cutting:Koga

Upper leather cutting: Koga

I am in charge of cutting shoe parts from one big piece of leather. In the same manner as clothes, parts are cut which will form a shoe when sewed together, but, since natural leather differs slightly from one another in color tone and texture, it is very important to minimize leather waste while maintaining the quality to the extent possible considering the seamed condition. I make every effort to allocate an area with a few wrinkles and flaws as possible to each joint area that cannot be seen. Shoes made of fine leather will fit each person’s foot and last a really long time if well cared for. It is my task to correctly evaluate the condition of the leather to make the best shoes possible. I have been doing this work for many years and I have a stronger passion to make shoes better than anyone else!

Upper sewing: Koguchi

I have been in charge of sewing upper parts for 4 years. While I am inherently good at sewing machines, I still feel that it is difficult because there are many parts of shoes and the parts to be sewn are small. I carefully stitch the parts together considering the seam because the leather material once sewn cannot be redone. We can learn skills from experienced veterans in the workplace. When I sew beautifully, I am pleased to feel that my sewing skills have improved a little. I would like to take advantage of ingenuity in terms of design and comfort after acquiring a proper technique.
